ENVIRONMENT

We are conscious of the importance of environment protection and make constant endeavours to protect it. We do not use PCB based oil. All wasted paper is either recycled or burnt and disposed off in an environment friendly way.

FINISHED PRODUCT QUALITY CONTROL

Each and every Instrument Transformer is checked for routine tests as specified in the relevant IS and IEC standards, with records of the same maintained. ITCL, has a very sophisticated testing laboratory where the following tests are conducted.

  • High Voltage Power Frequency Test on Primary Winding.
  • High Voltage Induced Voltage Test.
  • High Voltage Power Frequency Test on Secondary Winding.
  • Accuracy Test.
  • Composite Error Test.
  • Knee Point Voltage Test.
  • Inter-turn Test.
  • Tan Delta Test.
  • Insulation Resistance Test.
  • Polarity Test.
  • Secondary Resistance Test.
  • Primary Resistance Test.
  • Partial Discharge Test.

STAGE INSPECTION WHILE MANUFACTURING

The stage inspection is carried out to all critical stages of manufacturing. The main checking and quality measures adopted at various stages are given below:

Coils  : Each coil is checked for interlayer insulation after winding. The electrical parameters such as resistance, inductance and capacitance of each coil are measured and recorded.
Cores : The core built from lamination is checked for air-gap, regimens and eddy current losses.
Ratio : The basic ratio test with the help of ratio meter is conducted to check the proper polarity and ratio of instrument transformers.
Drying of Coils : Each coil is checked for through vacuum drying by checking tan delta of the coils.
Transformer Oil : Before filling the transformer oil, it is checked for BDV, tan delta, specific resistivity and PPM.
Leak Test : Each transformer is checked for leak test after applying positive pressure.

QUALITY CONTROL OF RAW MATERIALS

The raw materials are purchased from quality and reputed suppliers. The name and the certificates of major components of sub-vendors is available on request. Further, the complete quality plan for checking major raw materials is followed as per the relevant IS and IEC standards. The major raw materials which are tested in ITCL in-house laboratory are as under:

1. Enamelled Copper Wire
For checking the coating of enamel as per IS & IEC Standard.
2. Copper Wire Resistance
For checking the conductivity of copper wire.
3. Insulation
For checking the dielectric strength of the following

  • Imported Kraft Paper.
  • Imported Crept / Kraft Paper
  • Imported semi-conducting paper
  • Polyester – Film Paper
  • Press-pan Paper
  • Press-board Paper
  • Fibre-glass sleeving
  • Fibre glass tape
  • Empire tape
  • Bakelite sheet
   

4. Lamination / Cores   
For checking the magnetic properties and dimension of cores.
5. Porcelain Insulator    
For checking hairline cracks, surface defects, and other electrical tests
6. Transformer Oil       
For checking BDV, PPM, tan delta, capacitance and specific resistivity.
7. Sealing Material      
For checking base material, oil influence test and hardness.
8. Fabricated Tank      
For leak tests and pressure tests on selected welded joints.
